Google Base & Google Product Search

Google Base, otherwise known as Google Product Search (originally Froogle) is a free service that allows users to upload product and service data and make it available on various google services, but principally Google Product Search.

Items can be posted (uploaded) using “attributes” to describe them which help users to find the exact item that they are looking for. Google Product Search allows shoppers to quickly and easily find what they are searching for; driving qualified shoppers to your site, helping you drive traffic and sales to your store.

What may be more interesting is that a correctly optimised google base feed can appear in google onebox in the first page of the natural google listings, which sees significantly higher traffic volumes.
