Google Base Feed Optimisation

Roughly 35,000 product feeds are being submitted to google in 2010 and the vast majority of these are being done by automated xml feeds. Obviously all feeds need to be submitted to google base, either manually or automatically, but that shouldn’t be where the work stops. We believe that google data feed optimisation (DFO), like SEO and PPC will become an industry in itself. We have seen first-hand the benefits associated with googlebase feed optimisation and how it can transform a business.

Google Base has around 90 pre-defined product attributes that will help companies make sure their products are as clearly described as possible so that when a user types in a tail end search query the most relevant product is displayed near the top of the search. Google base feeds can also be optimised by adding custom attributes to each product or service that is uploaded. This means that if google doesn’t know that a product is made from a certain material or a specific size, you can still give your product the most appropriate attributes that will help your product come top to relevant searches.

What is more exciting than just appearing in google product search (previously Froogle) for free is that increasingly Google are giving more exposure to the top 3 items in google product search by replicating them at the top of the organic listings (onebox).
